About Nazareth Biblical Village
Nazareth Biblical Village is a living history farm and village that brings to life daily living in a small town in the Galilee in the time of Jesus.
Highlights of Village
The remains of a wine press, vineyard, watchtowers, terraces, spring-fed irrigation system and stone quarries tell the story of a working farm area in the 1st century. In-character villagers in authentic costumes demonstrate farming practices and talk about their daily life and work.
The Synagogue
The synagogue is small comparing it to most synagogues in the Galilee. The façade follows the First Century style, with wall corners built up, leaving an open space in the middle where the door will be. Large bedrock ledges will be carved into benches for seating.
The Houses
People would live in small rooms built around a central open courtyard, furnished with a water cistern and oven. The soft limestone bedrock was often hewn into caves and underground complexes ideal for storage.
