About Coral World Underwater Observatory
Eilat’s Coral World Underwater Observatory is the biggest aquarium in Israel. It is a window to the world of the Red Sea wonders. It is a place full of spectacular fish, coral and marine creatures. The Red Sea Coral Reef is the Northernmost reef in the world.
Exhibits
The underwater observatory offers stunning natural views of the coral reefs and sea life, without getting wet. The Red Sea Reef is a large replica of Eilat’s amazing coral reef that showcases different habitats of the ‘reef residents’ inside the reef. The Rare Fish Aquarium is home to over 800 species of fish and coral only found in the Gulf of Eilat. The “Creatures of the Deep” features mysterious marine animals that live deep in the oceans. The Shark Pool has a 15m long observation tunnel where visitors walk under the pool and view the sharks and stingrays above and around.
Other Attractions
The Aquadome presents an intense 360° visual experience of whales, uncovering the many secrets from the lives of humpback whales. The yellow ‘submarine’ Coral 2000 brings visitors on a sail along the coral reef itself to see the coral colonies and amazing sea creatures in their natural habitats. Snorkelling is a real hands-on experience in the Red Sea – up close and personal and swim with the fish between the corals.
Interesting Facts
- Water for the park is taken directly from the Gulf of Eilat to ensure the natural conditions are kept within the aquariums.
- There are no nets around the underwater observatory towers to keep the fish and marine creatures close by. All marine life come and live by the reef voluntarily.
- The park has a coral rehabilitation program where the expert and highly trained team rehabilitate the red sea coral damaged by pollution, storms, vessels and divers.
